Nine Creative Ways to Cure Post Disney Depression

We’ve all been there when you’re approaching the end of your vacation and you start getting a little sad when you’re about to head home. Although you’re so thankful for the time and fun you had, the post vacation blues can start to creep in.

For any Disney fan visiting a Disney park, the post vacation blues, also known as the post Disney blues, can definitely start to creep in after days of riding your favorite rides, eating your favorite Disney food and escaping the real world for a little bit for some Disney magic. If you’re looking for ways to ease your sadness, check out these nine creative ways to help your post Disney blues and bring a little bit of Disney into your everyday routine.

Add Disney Elements to Your Home

Besides work, our home is where we spend most of our time so why not add a couple of your favorite Disney mementos to your home! Now I’m not saying that you have to buy a ton of knick-knacks or make your house look like a Disney store when you walk into it. You could take a simple approach and just add a couple of Disney pieces here and there to different rooms in your house.

Are you a Disney pin collector? Try displaying your Disney pins on a bulletin board in your home office or bedroom.

Do you have a favorite piece of Disney art you purchased? Like the pinboard, find a room in your home to display your Disney art so you can see it every day.

Adding just a few Disney décor pieces to your home can give you a constant reminder of Disney and an instant smile to your face!

Watch Disney Documentaries on Disney+

Want to find all your favorite Disney movies, Disney Channel shows, documentaries and more all in one place? If you’re a Disney fan, I highly suggest getting a subscription for Disney+ so that way you can watch all your favorite Disney content whenever you want.

One of the great things I love about Disney+ is that there are so many documentaries about the Disney parks including The Imagineering Story, Behind the Attraction, Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Waking Sleeping Beauty and more. The documentaries give you a good mix of Disney’s past and present with behind the scenes of the parks’ history and what’s currently happening around the parks.

Listen to Disney Music

The music is the heart and soul of Disney magic and there are so many ways you can listen to Disney music from streaming services such as Pandora, Spotify and SiriusXM to free websites like YouTube.

Every morning on my drive to work, I listen to SiriusXM and it instantly puts me in a great mood and reminds me of my trips to Disney. Sirius XM makes Disney Hits very interactive and they’ll even feature someone on their “Be Our Guest” for the day segment where someone records a voice memo and shares their four favorite Disney songs which is played on air.

Watch Disney Youtube Videos

When I’m missing Disney a ton (and even Florida in general), I watch a ton of Disney Youtubers including The Tim Tracker, Once Upon a Bron, PC Dev and Magical Meg to name a few. Although you may miss Orlando, it’s fun to see what other creators highlight and show what’s happening around the parks!

Take a Look at the My Disney Experience App

I’m not sure if I’m the only one that does this but after a Disney trip, sometimes I’ll just take a look at the My Disney Experience app just to see what the wait times are for rides and check out our PhotoPass photos. Just periodically checking the app after a Disney vacation helps me slowly adjust back to reality after a Disney vacation. During the trip, you’re checking the app constantly so just periodically checking the app after you can come home can help make the transition a bit easier!

Dress in your favorite Disney Attire

Do you have a favorite Disney shirt that you always seem to gravitate to when you’re home or out and about? If you’re missing Disney and you’re relaxing at home or out running errands, don’t be afraid to wear your favorite Disney apparel. I don’t know about you but I find so much comfort in wearing my favorite Disney clothes in my everyday life (I’m a Spirit Jersey girl through and through) and it instantly puts me in a good mood as well.

Reminisce with Your Loved Ones About Your Vacation

One of the great things about being in Disney World is creating so many memories with your loved ones and those memories are what helps keep the magic alive (sorry if that sounds cheesy!). One thing my husband and I love to talk about are our favorite things that happened during our trip including our overall favorite part of the trip, food, show, moment, etc. I can guarantee just talking about your time at Disney with those you experienced it with will bring a great conversation and a smile to your face!

Stock Up on Disney Snacks for your First Couple Days at Home

On your last day of your trip, stop by the Confectionery, Goofy’s Candy Co, your resort’s giftshop or your favorite place to get snacks and stock up for the trip home and for the days following. Bringing snacks home is another great way to adjust being back from your vacation and you can never go wrong with having a couple more Disney snacks to munch on.

Create a Bucket List for Your Next Trip

It’s never too early to start planning your next trip right after you get home! Whether you have a date set or not, it’s always fun to plan and dream about your next trip to a Disney Park whether it’s Disney World, Disneyland or one of the other Disney parks across the world. While you’re planning, make it a goal to try something new on your next trip so that way you have something extra to look forward to whether it’s a whole new park, a new resort or just a whole new experience altogether.

I hope these tips help you cure some of your post Disney depression and add a little Disney magic to your everyday life!
